THESIS PROJECT

Travel is such a cultural and social phenomena and it’s something I am passionate about. I’ve been fortunate enough to travel to every continent (except Antarctica) and have learned a lot of life lessons along the way. My thesis projects include The History of Leisure Travel, Defining Tourist & Traveler, the difference between stereotypes and cultural characteristic, tips on How to be a Good Traveler and guides books for London, Toronto and Los Angeles. My goal overall is to teach people how to be a good traveler. I wanted to take in all the experiences that I’ve learned from traveling and share some lessons that I’ve learned from being outside my comfort zone.

Project 1: The History of Leisure Travel

This map showcases the route on how the History of Leisure Travel started. I illustrated a map and it starts from the Grand Tours Era, Train, Sea, Air, Road Trips, The Holiday Era and it leads down to how we travel today which is by using the Internet.

Project 2: Defining Tourist & Traveler

With project I wanted to understand and learn the definition between a tourist and a traveler. I wanted to show the difference between them based on their appearance when you would see them. The blank shirt represents a traveler because they try their best to blend into a crowd. The tourist shirt has is a play on the I heart NY shirt and I wanted to put an action of something a tourist would do a lot which would be taking selfies everywhere which makes them stand out. The shirt come with tags and they have the definitions of a tourist and traveler.

Project 3: Website

This website helps educate the difference between stereotypes and cultural characteristics. The website showcases the definition of a tourist and traveler, examples of false stereotypes and cultural facts. It also teaches how to avoid stereotyping.

Project 4 – How to be a Good Traveler

These postcards are meant for tourist to learn and understand how to be a good traveler. These simple reminders can go a long way. Here are the ten tips to learn to be a good traveler.

Project 5: Local Passports

My concept for this project is to provide a guide on how to be a local in Los Angeles, Toronto, and London. The passports content contains Local Slang, Outfits, Hangouts, Eat, Celebrities, Musicians, and Local Transportation.
